đłđłđł My daughter has reached a stage where her curiosity knows no bounds. Recently, she began asking the âbig questionsâ about where she came from. I told her she came from her motherâs tummy. Naturally, that led to more questions.
âHow did I get into Mommyâs tummy?â she asked. I explained that she started as an egg that got fertilized. Then, without skipping a beat, she asked, âDid I have bones?â I told her, âNot at first, but your body developed them as you grew.â
She thought for a moment before asking, âWhat year were you my age?â I smiled and told her it was many, many years ago. She followed up with, âWas I around then?â I explained that she hadnât been born yet.
Then came the question that really made me pause: âWas I with God?â
In that moment, I saw an opportunity to close the loop on this conversation in a way her six-year-old mind could understand. âYes,â I told her, âyou were with God. He kept you safe and waited for the perfect time to gift you to your mother and me.â
At six years old, my daughter is trying to figure out who she is, starting with herself. Every day is an adventure as she discovers new things about the world, and I can see her beautiful mind working overtime to make sense of it all.
I pray that God gives me the wisdom and patience to help her navigate this big, crazy world. The truth is, Iâm still figuring things out myself. I can only imagine how overwhelming it must be for her.
But through it all, I feel nothing but gratitude. My daughterâs inquisitive mind is a blessing, and her curiosity reminds me to appreciate the little wonders in life. Thank you, God, for such an incredible gift. I love her deeply, and Iâm honored to guide her as she grows.
Letâs just hope her next round of questions doesnât include how the egg gets fertilizedâat least not yet!
